RadioRa2 - Revolutionizing Lighting Control
As most of you know, we at Twisted Pair Media are big proponents of lighting control. We strive to convey the benefits of lighting control and automation to each and every one of our clients. In the past, lighting control was somewhat of a tough concept to grasp and often hard to justify the upfront costs of entry into the lighting control world. As of January 1st, Lutron Electronics, Inc. has ramped up production of a revolutionary new product line known as RadioRa2. RadioRa2 improves on the highly successful RadioRa line. It adds additional functionality such as an expanded system size (200 versus a prior 64 device maximum), temperature control, automated shade integration, and motion sensor integration. As if that was not enough, the overall system cost went DOWN about 30 percent.
So what does this mean?
This means that you could get a basic entry-level lighting control and automation system for around $1400.
With this system, you could have a few switches replaced with "smart" dimmers. These dimmers could be controlled from keypads, remotes, visor controls in cars, and by timed scenes. Imagine a life where you never had to come home to a dark house. Or a house where a simple ALL OFF button turned off all of the lights around the house from a keypad beside the bed. Also on this keypad, a GOOD MORNING button lit a dim path to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee. Then, at 30 minutes before sunset, each evening (the "brain" has an astronomic clock built-in) your porch and landscape lights come on to 40 percent. As the sun sets, the level of those lights can increase.
Not only does lighting control add convenience and safety to your home, but it also saves energy. The chart to the right provides some data distributed by the engineers at Lutron to help people understand just what lighting control means to your electric bill and to the environment.
Many of our clients love the idea of not changing their flood lights (that are 40 feet high) every few months. Saving money on the electric bill each month isn't so bad either.
Lutron has TONS of information and resources available to help consumers understand more about lighting control and automation. Honestly, it provides too many awesome benefits and features to list in this blog.
If you are interested in stepping into the world of lighting control, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be more than happy to further educate you and provide you with some information on a "starter kit" that would fit your specific residence.
